This website is an informational site about knife sharpening and a companion site to the book of the same name. It contains editorial articles and product recommendations with links to Amazon. No user accounts are created and no cookies or tracking technologies are used for analytics or advertising purposes.

Hosting and Server Log Files

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you access the site, Cloudflare, acting as our processor, processes technically necessary data, in particular the IP address of the accessing device, the date and time of access, and the URL accessed. This processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and functional website). Information on data protection at Cloudflare is available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.

If you sign up for our newsletter, we process your email address and your name for the purpose of sending information about knife sharpening and related topics.

The legal basis is your explicit consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. Signup uses a double opt-in process: after signing up you will receive a confirmation email and must confirm the signup by clicking the link it contains. Without this confirmation you will not be added to the list.

We use the service MailerLite (MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, D02 DK18, Ireland) to send the newsletter. MailerLite processes the data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement (Art. 28 GDPR), which, according to MailerLite, is automatically part of MailerLite's Terms of Use and does not require separate signing. Data processing takes place in an ISO 27001-certified data center within the European Union; the sub-processors used by MailerLite are, according to MailerLite, also based exclusively in the EU.

For performance measurement, MailerLite tracks whether you open our emails and click on links they contain (open and click rates). The legal basis for this is likewise your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR.

You can withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future by unsubscribing from the newsletter via the unsubscribe link in any email, or by contacting us at [email protected].

Your data is stored at MailerLite until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. After unsubscribing, the data is deleted unless legal retention obligations require otherwise.

Links to Amazon

Product pages and individual articles contain links to Amazon offer pages (Amazon Associates Program). These links are labeled "Advertisement". Once you click such a link and move to Amazon, Amazon's privacy policy applies from that point on. We have no influence over data processing there. Simply visiting this website does not transmit any data to Amazon.
